It's easy to leave a phone, wallet, bag or set of keys behind in a busy day. SATA drivers hand in items found in their vehicles, and our office will do everything we reasonably can to reunite you with your belongings. The sooner you contact us, the better the chance of a quick recovery — so get in touch as soon as you notice something is missing.
When you report a lost item, our team checks with the driver who took your trip and asks them to look through the vehicle. Because our drivers work on rosters and shifts, we can usually identify who was on your route from the date, time and pickup details you give us. If your item is found, we'll hold it securely at our office and arrange a time for you to collect it, or discuss the best way to get it back to you.
Please note that valuable items may also be handed in to the nearest Police station, in line with standard taxi practice, so we may direct you there if that's where your property has gone.
Phone our office on 09 278 5678 or freephone 0800 33 33 00, or complete the enquiry form on our website with the details above. Our office can search during normal business hours, so if you call after hours we'll follow up as soon as we're open.
Please note: while we make every reasonable effort to recover lost property, SATA cannot guarantee that items left in a vehicle will be found or returned, and we accept no liability for lost or damaged belongings. In some cases an item may have been picked up by a later passenger before the driver noticed it. For phones, we suggest trying to call your number or using your device's built-in tracking to help locate it.
